
It follows the same sort of mechanics and loop that you'll find in 2070 and the newest 1800 though. I've not played a great deal of 1404 so I can't really comment on it too much. This is in contrast to games like Tropico or Cities Skylines where they're more focused on the city building to the resource management. You could very well have a finished product in the end game that needs 10+ resources to produce and part of the fun is ensuring that they are all being produced as effeciently as possible. For instance, your higher class citizens may not be happy unless you provide them with high-quality food, which let's say need 4 resources which each subsequently need a number or resources themselves. You'll enjoy these games if you enjoy the idea of setting up a supply chain of resources to make your people happy.

It has its similarities, but the crux of this series is management of production chains.

The Anno series is pretty different from other building titles. It's much more similar to the other titles (including the new one coming out) and is more fun in my opinion.
